Course Overview

The Graphic Design Internship at Digi-Workup is intended to provide internships with hands on experience in design, to help interns build their ideas and abilities. By working on live cases, interns will be able to design meaningful and aesthetic graphics to be used in online and offline platforms. This program will be especially suitable for those who want to get a job in a graphic design field and have no prior experience.

By the end of this internship, interns will:

  1. Understand basic rules that concern the design process as a graphic designer such as typography, use of colour and arrangement or placement of graphics and images.
  2. Master the most used design tools as the adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and In-design among others.
  3. Design logos, branding, social media images/headlines and any marketing item that might be required.
  4. Learn how to design for both print and electronic media.
  5. Find out how to be creative while adhering to brand standards on the specific project.
  6. Make yourself aware of the trends in visuals and designs.

  3. Introduction to design principles: opposition, parallelism, symmetry, vicinity, and rhythm.

  1. Fundamentals of typography: They include font pairing, hierarchy and readability.
  2. Working with color: knowledge of color combinations, colors and their effects, and contrast.

  3. Creating branding accessories such as business cards, letterheads and package designs.
  4. Case studies: examining the case of successful brand image strategies.

  1. Designing for print: understanding of what resolution means, what file formats are, and the difference between CMYK and RGB colour models.
  2. Designing fliers, billboards and even designing the outer cover of some packaged goods.
  3. Creating files for production of print ready.
  4. Interaction with printers and knowledge of various types of printing.
  1. Social Media and Digital Graphics
  1. Creation of content that will be shared on the social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, linkedin and others).
  2. Guidelines for designing banners, cover photos, and social network ads.
  3. The use of an adaptive approach when creating web graphics for different platforms and screen resolutions.
  4. Animation of logo, creating animated GIFs and simple motion graphics.

  1. UI/UX design, the fundamental of designing for both web and mobile applications.
  2. Explaining what user interface elements are and how to design with the user in mind.
  3. Designing a structure of a website along with access to tools like Figma and Adobe XD to create wireframes and prototypes.
  4. A practical approach of solving user problems through design using design thinking.

  1. Building a professional portfolio of works as a designer.
  2. Developing cases for each project so that the design process can be shown.
  3. Creating an online portfolio in Behance or on personal websites.

  2. Designing graphics for social media for an advertising campaign.
  3. Creating designs for posters, fliers and banners for events.
  4. Developing advertisement content for the e-commerce platforms.

  6. Design Software: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign
  7. Prototyping Tools: These include Figma and Adobe XD though Adobe XD is not mandatory for UI/UX designers.
  8. Portfolio Platforms: Behance, Dribbble
